My work investigates movement as an inherent property of materials, exploring how responsive shape change expands the aesthetic, expressive, and functional possibilities of textiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><br>Working across textile design, materials research, craft, and emerging technologies, I investigate how morphology and structure can amplify material capabilities, to design environment-sensitive textile systems whose behaviour shapes the atmospheres they create and the ways we experience them. Whether exploring active filaments, dynamic textile systems, or the expressive qualities of soft technologies, I am interested in uncovering the conditions under which behaviour emerges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><br>My practice is grounded in making. I approach materials as collaborators in an open-ended dialogue, where understanding emerges through experimentation, observation, critical reflection, and iteration. I use prototypes as instruments for thinking. They reveal material behaviours that would be difficult to anticipate through analysis alone, allowing intuition, accidents, mistakes, and variation to actively contribute to the research process. Uncertainty becomes a design resource, and unexpected outcomes create opportunities for generating knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><br>This perspective has shaped an interdisciplinary career across academia, industry, and research labs in Uruguay, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and France, where I have contributed to projects ranging from smart textiles and advanced functional materials to colour and material innovation, mixed-reality interactions, and design research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:14px\"><br>I hold a Ph.D. in Textiles from the Royal College of Art and an M.Sc. in Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media from Pompeu Fabra University. I have conducted postdoctoral research at EnsadLab &#8211; Universit\u00e9 PSL, contributed to the development of ESMOD Research Lab, and taught textiles, smart materials, and design research at universities across Europe.
